Orbicular

Orbicular

6" x 6"

Acrylic on Wood Panel

This painting is SOLD.

This is brightly-colored floral mandala painting seems to emanate beyond the edges of the wood panel! My abstract paintings are very process-oriented and carry a spiritual meaning related to the mystery of existence and a reverence for the unfolding process of life. While working on paintings that are this detailed and colorful, I become so immersed in the work that applying paint becomes a meditative process through which I strive to achieve balance amidst chaos (similar to the concept of mushin). The colors and designs arise spontaneously and reflect my interest in tribal and aboriginal art, specifically in the act of storytelling through nonrepresentational means. My abstract art is also heavily inspired by my world travels, particularly my visits to remote tribal villages in the Kutch region of India, as well as my visits to temples and roadside shrines in Sri Lanka, India, and Nepal. The surface of this painting has a slight texture, to lend it a charming air of depth and substance.

Giclee on Fine Art Paper

This artwork is available for purchase here.
This elaborately detailed artwork is part of my Deep Thinkers series, in which various animals are juxtaposed with evidence of human thought, in the form of mathematical equations, quotes, definitions, musical scores, etc. These pieces depict a zen-like transcendent bridge between conceptual thinking and animalistic consciousness. These two contrasts are united by a careful use of color and decorative design. This piece depicts a sulfur-crested cockatoo grandly posed before a series of ancient solar system models. The use of color and design in this piece lends the bird a regal quality. He has the air of an explorer, one who has travelled far and seen much.

This listing is for a professionally printed giclee produced from one of my drawings. The print is made with UV pigmented inks that are lightfast and durable, rated to last 150-200 years. The artwork is printed on white, fine art 210 g/m2 matte watercolor paper by Hahnemahle. The paper is acid-free with 50% rag. It has a natural white finish with a slightly-structured soft-textured surface. There is a 1" border around all four edges of the artwork, allowing for easy matting and framing.

Giclee on Fine Art Paper

This artwork is available for purchase here.

This is a highly-detailed, vibrantly colored piece inspired by Mexico's Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. I combined the simplified black outline of a skull with my usual funky abstract style to create an artwork that is vivid, boisterous, and jubilant. I like the paradoxical juxtaposition of the classic image of death and mortality - the skull - portrayed amidst colorful abstract forms and intricate designs, which express the fullness and joy of life.

This painting is a brightly colored abstract floral explosion! The style is aesthetically inspired by my keen interest in the folk arts of Mexico and India, particularly in the intensity of their color palettes and their detailed patterns. This painting combines my love for tribal art with a contemporary urban aesthetic, resulting in a fresh, vibrant abstract style that expresses the complexity and multiplicity of modern life through a youthful and jubilant perspective.
