Surrilicious

Surrilicious

5" x 7"

Colored Pencil, Watercolor & Acrylic on 140lb Hot-Pressed Watercolor Paper

This artwork is SOLD.

This is a funky, vibrantly colored piece inspired by Mexico's Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. I combined the simplified black outline of a skull with my usual funky abstract style to create an artwork that is vivid, boisterous, and jubilant. I like the paradoxical juxtaposition of the classic image of death and mortality - the skull - portrayed amidst colorful abstract forms and intricate designs, which express the fullness and joy of life. This image is bright, psychedelic, and bursting with energy! There is a 1/2 inch border around all 4 edges of the artwork, to allow for easy matting and framing.
