This is a highly-detailed, vibrantly colored piece inspired by Mexico's Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. I combined the simplified black outline of a skull with my usual funky abstract style to create an artwork that is vivid, boisterous, and jubilant. The title of this piece, Memento Mori, is a Latin phrase that may be translated as "Remember that you are mortal," "Remember you will die," or "Remember your death". I like the paradoxical juxtaposition of the classic image of death and mortality - the skull - portrayed amidst colorful abstract forms and intricate designs, which express the fullness and joy of life. This image is bright, psychedelic, and incredibly detailed! There is a 1/2 inch border around all four edges of the artwork, to allow for easy matting and framing. This drawing is a standard size for matting and framing.
